Included also are reports from the mens and ladies captains.  It  also has a diary feature  giving details of the various social events in the club.  A very important date is  February 7th when representatives of DAE (Dial An Exchange) will host an evening about the new holiday club opportunity.

DAE Holiday Presentation

On Wednesday, the 7th of February you can learn some inside tips about the vacation club many of you have already enrolled in.

Paula Vickers of Dial An Exchange will be with us to host a brief holiday chat and give you her perspective on how to get great value from holiday exchange.

We are going to combine this with a quiz night to add a competitive spirit and we have asked DAE to bring along a couple of prizes to add to whatever the company can offer!

Company CEO, Brian Martin said, “I’m looking forward to this one myself, Paula has a great deal of holiday knowledge and is always great fun so I’m intending to switch off from business that night, enter a “company team” in the quiz and have some fun.

You can enter your own team of 4 people and there will be a charge of €5 per person with proceeds going to fund joint initiatives on the course.

Don’t worry if you arrive without a team we will slot you into an “all stars” table and you can take your chance on your teammates knowledge.

Event starts at 7.30pm

– Holiday Presentation with DAE.

– World Holiday Quiz.

Award to the winning team.

The restaurant will be open for dinner from 5pm for anyone wanting to make a night of it.  Some sample dishes will be available from the new bar menu.

Issue of Shares

The share issue by the company to members is on schedule and almost all members who have committed for 2018 have been contacted with their registration forms.

This simple form is the format by which the share issue will be communicated to the Company Secretaries of East Clare Development Village Limited.

Application Form
[East Clare Development Village Limited Application for ‘A Ordinary’ Shares.
This application form is to administer the issue of ‘A Ordinary’ Shares in East Clare Development Village Limited (‘the company’).
1. The allocation of 1 (one) share gifted by the company:
Your name and address details (BLOCK CAPITALS PLEASE):
Title ………. Forename ………………………. Surname ……………………………………..
Address 1 ……………………………………………………..
Address 2 ……………………………………………………..
Address 3 …………………………………………………….. Postcode ……………………………………………………..
email address ……………………………………………………..
Phone number ……………………………………………………..
Mobile number ……………………………………………………..
2. Do you want to subscribe for an additional 199 shares? Yes / No
3. In the event that there are unallocated shares, do you want to be offered an additional allocation (likely to be between 100 and 200 shares) costing €1 per share? Yes / No.

Members can complete the form and return it by hand or by mail to the club or they can call and give their information to Andrea McCarthy in the club office.

Andrea is helping with the share issue administration and will also be picking up Brian’s email on the issue when you send tobrian@eastclare.life.

The process is to gather the 200 plus forms and then make the first share allotment based on members wishes – the free share and the allocation of 199 more shares if individual members want to take their allocation.

This process will run through February and Andrea will call everyone to make sure that they have received the details and help them to return their form.

When this process is complete the company will then offer any remaining shares to those people who have requested the opportunity to buy any un-alloted shares. This will happen during March so the company will be able to issue the shares and close the process before the end of March.

Where does the share capital go?

The money raised becomes part of the permanent capital of the company and we asked Brian (company CEO Brian Martin) how the money would be spent.

“There are many deserving projects needing to be attended to within the clubhouse, on the course and in the development aspects. We will prioritise and allocate available funds to those areas where we can get a quick return – this will hopefully allow us to reinvest the money over and over and help us work through our list faster.”

What sorts of projects are on that list?

“Within the restaurant we have already completed commercial cleaning, approved upgrading of extraction and installation of new equipment needed to create the 8am to 11pm service we intend to have by March. This has a budget of around €8,000 in total.
“This expenditure is critical to generating the income we need from the restaurant and bar and so too is the purchase of crockery, cutlery and glassware costing around €4,500 which will be phased in as we grow.

“Within the clubhouse you will already be aware that we plan to extend the shop before the season begins, in part to improve control over visitors and in part to make its operation more efficient. We also plan to offer a range of essential food items to holiday village guests without changing the external appearance of the shop of course. This project will require around €6,000 investment.
“Also in the clubhouse we plan a phased development of the men’s locker room – it currently doesn’t do us justice with guests and we plan to phase an upgrade programme, some of which we hope will be in partnership with the men’s club. Over a period of time we believe this could cost in excess of €20,000 so a phased approach will be essential.

“On the course

we acknowledge the need to have a medium/long term plan for equipment and the first step is a huge commitment of some €50,000 on plant where we will be spreading the cost over 3-5 years.
“Many smaller projects are being considered by the Course Committee and an initial spend of some €15,000 has been approved recently for essential works during the next 2 months.
“A long answer to your question Margaret!  And a list of necessary expenditure far exceeding the money being raised, so we need work on other fronts too and plan to commit to these projects only when we have the funding in place.  It’ll be a busy couple of years to balance things out but as I have said before, where we work in partnership we can achieve it.”
The plans for the shop alterations are posted in the clubhouse and the project is being tendered just now by local contractors including contacts of club members.Golf News and results.
